I followed a step by step preparation methodology for IIT-JEE. The first step was to join a coaching institute so that I could get proper direction. A regular study is very important for being successful in the exam. I always tried that whatever is taught in coaching must be revised on the same day and the all assignments given, must be completed as per the submission schedule. I used to study in the slots of three hours, as the exam of JEE is of three hours. To set the biological clock, the mentors put us on three tests which were very important and helped me big time. I did my problem wise SWOT (Strength Weakness Opportunity Threat) analysis to decide my approach to each topic and focused on making the weak areas stronger and making the comfortable areas better.
Students who aspire to crack the Joint Entrance Examination must put a lot of efforts to achieve success because while carrying the aim of obtaining qualifying marks in 12th Class, they also need to prepare hard for JEE Exam.
On the other hand, droppers feel pressured because after passing 12th, they really need to qualify the JEE Exam. If they fail, they will have to bear the loss of the entire year.
IIT JEE Study Plan works as a lifesaver in such strenuous situation.
Coping with the change
When a student moves from 10th to 11th, syllabus usually changes and then the questions are piled up in the mind of the student. In that case, I advise you to study and solve issues every day. Coaching also helps the students in resolving their doubts.
Distractions and how to act wisely
Students should be in a healthy environment. Social media channels are a major hindrance in the preparation, so always try to keep little distance from different social media channels during the preparation period as well as choose wisely who you want to be friends with over these 2 years.
Learn from your mistakes
We should never ignore our mistakes. Always note down your mistakes and work on it so that you can rectify it at the time of examination. Develop a positive outlook towards hard work and never shy away from it. Do not get too bogged down from mistakes or poor performances in the practice tests. Instead, learn from your mistakes as well as others too. You must develop a clear understanding of your strengths and weaknesses.
Maintain a strict schedule
Study for at least 10-12 hours daily, take proper rest and do whatever you like which refreshes your mind, for example, listening to music, cooking, yoga, meditation etc. Streamline your study process and set realistic expectations.
Short notes for quick revision
Always remember, the period of few days between JEE MAIN and JEE ADVANCED are very crucial. We must create some short notes on the whole syllabus in the earlier days of studies so that we can revise the whole syllabus in those days. During last 5 or 6 days, we must remain stress-free and try to do the revisions only and must have a sound sleep one night before the exam.
Solve previous year sample papers
Try to solve previous years question sample papers to ensure the best performance and solve maximum test series during last days of the exam since they will tell your current preparation status. This helps students to bring closer to the actual exam environment.
Key takeaway – Taking time-bound practice test is key to your optimal performance on the JEE Advanced days.
